Hi. I'm Gemma, she/her. While I go by my WoL's name, my character is not a self insert.
I like talking about FFXIV lore, especially anything related to the Ascians, ancients, unsundered world, Garlemald, and Ishgard. My Warrior of Light is Gemma, my Azem is Persephone, and my Empress of Garlemald is Aviva. Favorite pairings are Emetwol, Azemet, and Wolmeric. I enjoy commissioning artists, writing, and gposing.
I love pretty much all parts of the game - crafting, gathering, leveling jobs, relic grinding, raiding, glamour. While I've played and leveled all jobs, dragoon is my baby and Gemma's canon job. I've done ultimates and savage but am taking a break from raiding.
Disclaimer for all of my art (gpose, writing, lore): Do not plagiarize my work or use it as a guidance to claim as your own. I DO NOT consent to have my writing used in any way to train AI or chat programs. I only publish my writing on Ao3. If you find my work republished on another side, it was NOT me and I do not consent to it.

Gemma was born in the outskirts of Gridania to her parents, Cora and Arnis. Her parents make a living as traveling merchants, and so she journeyed with them all over Eorzea until she began her own adventuring. That future desire for wandering and adventuring blossomed from all the cultures and people she interacted with in those travels. As an only child and never really having a place to call home, Gemma often kept to herself. Despite this, she was always kind and empathetic with anyone she would meet. Such compassion was apparent even as a child when her mother read her stories about the Dragonsong War. She always wondered why man and dragon couldn't coexist together, so her dream since childhood was to become a dragoon knight and fight for a future where she could fly side by side in the skies with dragons. When she was 23, Dalamud fell upon Eorzea. Seeing how changed the world became after the catastrophic event, she decided to part from her parents to carve her own path to aid the people of Eorzea, spending most of her days in the forests of the Shroud while honing her combat skills at the lancer's guild.

Gemma joins the Scions of the Seventh Dawn at the age of 28 when the threat of the primals becomes something she cannot ignore. She slowly opens up to her newfound allies, particularly finding someone akin to a sister in Minfilia, a reliable friend in Y'shtola, and a blooming curiosity for the charms of Thancred. When tasked to find the defecting Azure Dragoon during her travels in Coerthas, the eye of Nidhogg speaks to Gemma in a twist of fate, much to the shock of her future dear friend and comrade, Estinien. She begins her formal training as a dragoon with Alberic, eventually earning the title of Azure Dragoon shortly before the events of Operation: Archon. With the beginning of the new Astral Era, new alliances are formed, but Gemma can sense something amiss with the formation of the Crystal Braves. Her caution continues when she meets Aymeric, the Lord Commander of Ishgard, but her concerns are quickly quelled with his obvious passion for the well-being of his city. Unfortunately, this was not the case for all of her newfound allies...
The betrayal and tragedies at the Bloody Banquet deeply traumatized Gemma, fleeing to the city of Ishgard for refuge with Alphinaud and Tataru. Now nearing her 30s, never has she felt more alone and hopeless with the absence of many of her comrades in a place where she would be treated as an outsider. But the warmness of her new allies - Aymeric, Estinien, Ysayle, Haurchefant, and the entire Fortemps family - revitalize that spark within her to fight for this nation's freedom from the shackles of a false faith that would continue the war between man and wyrm. And after the defeat of the primal King Thordan, Gemma realizes she may yet have found a place to call home with her affections for a certain Lord Commander blossoming. With their determination to bring peace, they work together to end Nidhogg's bloody war against Ishgard, freeing their comrade, Estinien, from the wyrm's hold. Gemma has become the Savior of Ishgard, and it was she who completely enamored Aymeric, their affections for one another at last reciprocated after a fateful dinner together. Unfortunately, their blossoming relationship would go through many trials with the challenges to come.

Though many allies have returned, so many more are lost. Haurchefant, Ysayle, Minfilia, Papalymo - but still, Gemma carries on with resolve. A year and a half has passed since the Bloody Banquet, and Gemma is 31 when she first arrives in Rhalgr's Reach. Her confidence is shattered when she faces the terrifying Zenos yae Galvus in combat during a surprise attack against the Resistance. To challenge Garlemald, a plan is crafted to fight the war on two fronts in both Doma and Ala Mhigo. The journey to Othard will be the longest Gemma is away from Aymeric since their relationship began, and so they share as much time as they can together before she departs across the sea. Their plan is a success when they liberate both Doma and Ala Mhigo, but the rumors of the Garlean prince returning from the dead weighs heavily on her mind. And when the Scions are "called" away one by one, their souls all but gone from their bodies, Gemma is determined to bring them back. During her recovery in Ishgard from the Ghimlyt Dark, she and Aymeric share a promise with the offering of his mother's engagement ring before her life changing journey to the First.
Gemma is 32 plus some moons when she arrives in the First and meets the Ascian, Emet-Selch. From the moment she first sensed his presence, she'd felt a strange pull at her chest as though her soul were reaching out towards the Ascian. Yet why, she could not understand at first. But as she continued to kill the Lightwardens of the First, she only felt herself more drawn to him. And the pieces slowly began to come together - a world long ago now forgotten, the origin of both Hydaelyn and Zodiark, and the sundering of their very souls. The realization that she was once the unsundered soul of his soulmate, now his enemy, is a bitter twist of fate. Yet their goals would never align, and she could not remember who she once was, much to his anger. And so he pushed her to fight him as Hades, both their titles cast aside, where one would become the victor and the other the villain. But in his final moments after his defeat, he bid her to remember them with a whisper of the true name of her unsundered soul. And in a flash, all the memories of her life with him came back in a rush. Their happiness. Their partnership. Their love. But it was too late, for he dissipated in her arms to the aetherial sea.

Who was she truly? Was she Gemma? Or was she Persephone? The memories that felt like they were both hers and not hers plagued her mind. She was wrought with grief and mourned Hades, but none of her comrades could understand why. It was Thancred she turned to at her lowest point, her trust all but crushed from what Urianger and the Exarch had planned. The torture from the absorption of the light was something that still haunted her. Elidibus is her enemy now, and she can only somberly think of what she would have to do. Forced to kill the last of the unsundered, she nearly gives herself over to her inevitable death until the invocation of a sunset hued crystal gives form to Hades. "Herein I commit the chronicle of the traveler. Shepherd to the stars in the dark. Though the world be sundered and our souls set adrift, where you walk, my dearest, fate shall surely follow. For yours is the Fourteenth seat - the seat of Azem." And so she will always remember, for he entrusted the star to them in his final moments. After they successfully return home to the Source, it is Aymeric she opens up to about the events of the First. If anyone could understand her grief and confusion over her identity, it was he.
Six moons on the Source have passed since she journeyed to the First, and with the Final Days looming, she travels to Sharlayan in search of the answers on how to stop the coming calamity. On her journey, she speaks with a ghostly figure of a woman in white who rings very familiar to her. It is Hydaelyn that bestows upon her a gift - a bright bloom that will guide Gemma on her journey. In her travels through Sharlayan, Thavnair, Garlemald, and Mare Lamentorum, she finds the flower blooming a different hue with the array of emotions she experiences. Joy, friendship, acceptance, and gratitude. But Fandaniel's plans come to fruition when he takes the place of Zodiark's heart, forcing her to strike down the weakened ancient primal. The Final Days were upon them, Zodiark's power in stagnating the corruption lost. With Thavnair burning from the horrors of the calamity, she has to find the answers within the "Elpis" bloom. She speaks to Elidibus in the Crystal Tower of the First, and in recognition of the bloom's name, bids her to travel to the past unsundered world to find the gentle Hermes. But it was not just he who she would cross paths with.

Gemma's time with Hades and Hythlodaeus in Elpis is hauntingly familiar, just like the memories of Persephone she held. Her true identity is revealed when she meets Venat, and the pain in Hades's heart when he realizes that she was the sundered soul of his love brought immense sorrow to them both. Still, the four of them work together to reveal the root of the Final Days, but not before Hades and Hythlodaeus's memories are wiped. "Do not squander it. The legacy I leave you." Once again, Hades entrusts the fate of the star to her. After an honest parting from Venat in the aetherial sea, Gemma travels to Ultima Thule to confront Meteion. All the Scions are gone, carving a path for her to the bringer of despair, but she is not alone. With the invocation of Azem, she calls for Hades and Hythlodaeus, half faded but with their memories restored. A field of Elpis blooms is the key to their final confrontation, and she must say goodbye to the two souls. For the first time, Gemma and Hades truly know one another in this moment, and their final emotional parting is full of acceptance and love. A song of hope is taught to Meteion, and with the Final Days averted, Gemma returns to Etheirys with newfound resolve.
For the first time in so long, Gemma is finally at peace with herself - she no longer feels like she's living in the shadow of her Ancient soul, able to live her life for herself now, but will always keep close the precious memories she has of the time when the world was unsundered. She receives ample rest in Ishgard from her injuries at the battle in Ultima Thule, and soon knows exactly what she wishes for after overcoming despair and saving Etheirys from the Final Days. After a long engagement, not knowing if they would survive the calamity, she desires nothing more than to finally marry Aymeric. They have a beautiful ceremony in Ishgard with their friends and family, and she semi-retires to spend some much needed relaxation with her now husband. She gets back into her hobbies she's neglected for so long - with her natural green thumb, she plants an array of herbs and flowers at the Borel manor. But she never forgets the promise she made to herself. After temporarily leaving Ishgard in Lucia's ever responsible hands, she and Aymeric embark on an adventure to travel together across Etheirys for many more moons. Hades left her with quite the long list of places to discover, after all.

Gemma has amicably ended her engagement with Aymeric. But it was not just he who she would cross paths with.

Gemma misses her mark in Elpis, instead being taken in by Hades in Amaurot. They spend moons together while Persephone is away, eventually travelling to Elpis after he deems her a mere familiar. But her true identity is revealed when she meets Venat, and the pain in Hades's heart when he realizes that she was the sundered soul of his love brought immense sorrow to them both. A field of Elpis blooms is the key to their final confrontation. For the first time, Gemma and Hades truly know one another in this moment, and she begs for him to stay when their souls are miraculously bound again. He decides that he will stay by her side. A song of hope is taught to Meteion, and with the Final Days averted, Gemma returns to Etheirys with Hades and Hythlodaeus both.
After staying a week in Old Sharlayan, Gemma finishes the remainder of her recovery in Ishgard with Hades in tow. But the sins of their past prevent them from easily moving forward into whatever their relationship is now. With the Scions disbanded and her desire to step away from duties towards the star, Gemma decides to bring them both to the island she owns in the Cieldalaes. She hopes that there, they can figure out their new relationship and heal from the wounds of their past. They continue to go through countless struggles with their feelings and the reality of this new normal, but in time, their love for one another proves to be an unbreakable connection that allows them to heal and move forward. Nearly nine moons after their battle at the edge of the universe, Gemma finds herself pregnant with her and Hades's first child - an unsundered soul reborn after being released from Zodiark. Upon this discovery, Hades realizes his happiness - and how he, too, deserves this. He proposes to Gemma and they renew their bonding within the next moon. Zagreus is born some moons later, and then they have a more traditional wedding ceremony with their family and friends on the island.

Gemma and Hades spend their honeymoon in Radz-at-Han, a place Gemma scarcely got to explore with the threat of the Final Days once upon them. But Hades also has plans to share more secrets of the world with her. Upon purchasing a treasure map, he takes her to where it leads - beneath the ruins of the Bounty. A voidgate is discovered here, which he has known about for some time. They explore the void, meet Zero, and discover the plans of Golbez. With the help of the former Scions, they stop his plans from going forth. Just when Gemma and Hades think they can finally get back to their peaceful life on the island with Zagreus, a request comes from Tural regarding their throne ascension. Gemma is hesitant when meeting Wuk Lamat and learning of this, not wishing to engage with another country's politics. She also simply does not want to be dragged into another conflict she must resolve. Hades understands this completely, speaking with her frankly about the potential journey. Instead of participating in the ascension, they agree to go to Tural without obligation to Wuk Lamat. With Zagreus and Hythlodaeus in tow, they begin their own journey in Tural and learn more about the secrets of the fabled Golden City.

Gemma's soulmate and other half, no matter when or where their souls meet through time. He was her enemy during the events of the First, but they fell in love despite all of that. He decided to save her life in exchange for his. Fate allowed them another chance at a life together after the tragic events of the past and present. Until the end of their days, they will remain by each other's side.

Just as they were before the world was sundered, Gemma and Hythlodaeus are inseparable friends. When they first met in Elpis, he was a comfort for her in navigating her duty to save the star. At the edge of the universe, he also chose to stay to see the beauty of the new world and spend the time with his cherished friends. They promised to return to the star together, after all.

Gemma has never met Persephone, but through the inherited memories of her past Ancient self feels she knows her more than any other. Her feelings towards Persephone were complicated for a time, but now she cherishes the bright woman she once was and is certain that were they to ever meet, they would be akin to the closest sisters with utmost love for one another.
Not knowing anything of their past friendship, Gemma fought Themis as the Ascian, Elidibus. But when her memories returned on the First, she convinced him to give up his duty as the Emissary - as her friend again. They shared many talks in the Crystal Tower, leading to his sacrifice in sending her to Elpis. There, they became close friends once more.

Gemma's feelings towards Venat are very complicated. She struggled with the choices Venat made in bringing forth the world that would be sundered, believing she held no faith in the Ancients, her own people. Gemma would never understand if Venat's decisions were her own, or influenced by Gemma's trip to the past, but she has come to peace with the horrifying choice made to sunder the star.
When Gemma first met Lahabrea in Elpis, she was apprehensive about what he may discover about her - and of her own feelings. In the present, he'd been a diabolical foe who took over her friend's body. But with her memories from Persephone and upon meeting him, she realized how flawed but human the man was. In time, their relationship became that of respect.

Gemma and Erichthonios became fast friends when investigating Pandaemonium together. He was a bright but insecure soul, yet he found solace in Gemma's compassionate determination. He looked up to her as though she were an older sister. Both were saddened when their investigations ended, and Gemma knew she would not meet him again. But their touching memories together would remain.
Gemma was one of the few Hermes opened up to about his feelings towards Ancient society due to their similar experiences with grief. She cared for him and resonated with his struggles, urging him to share his feelings with others, knowing the Ancients would be willing to listen from her own experiences with them. In the end, it wasn't enough to keep him off the path of despair.

Minfilia was Gemma's first true friend with the Scions. They quickly found joy in each other's presence outside of important meetings, sharing similar opinions and interests that brought them even closer. They were akin to two long lost sisters. Gemma heavily mourned Minfilia becoming the Word of the Mother, which influenced her beginning poor feelings towards Hydaelyn.

Thancred charmed Gemma as a young and fresh Scion, and thus she developed an early crush on him. But in time, his flirtations with others pushed her away, and the two of them were completely different people by the time they met up again in Ishgard. Thancred never forgave himself for messing up what could've been with her, but now they are the fiercest of friends protecting the other.
Gemma has much love for Alisaie, and the same is the case in reverse. At first, Gemma found herself intimidated by Alisaie's bold and fiery personality, especially towards her twin brother. But their relationship naturally blossomed during their time in Othard and they've been close friends ever since. Alisaie, however, doesn't appreciate Gemma's more motherly instincts towards the young elezen.

When they first met, Gemma did not think she would ever find common ground with Alphinaud. His interests in politics and generally arrogant personality made him an associate at most. But once he was humbled, she saw the true colors of his love and determination to help others. She will do anything to protect him and his sister, akin to an older sister or even mother to him.
Estinien is Gemma's fellow Azure Dragoon. They trained and faced conflict together even before tackling the Dragonsong War, and there they earned even more respect for one another. Genuine friendship, as well. Despite his hardened personality, she opens up to him more than others, finding his presence and words a comfort few others can give. He harbors quiet affection for Gemma.

Gemma and Y'shtola's friendship dramatically changed with the events of the First. They were joyful friends before, but a rift came between them when Gemma's frustrations with being the Warrior of Light and finding comfort in Emet-Selch came to light. In time, they mended their friendship, and Y'shtola holds deep respect for the confidence Gemma gained in her harrowing experiences.
While Gemma was heartbroken by Urianger's involvement with Minfilia's fate, she tried form a friendship with him, especially given Moenbryda's love for him. He taught her the very basics of healing which they bonded over. But his continued lies on the First brought a further rift between them. He acknowledged the hurt he'd caused, and in time they've become slow friends again.

Gemma was much shyer in her earlier days as a Scion, but Moenbryda was one of the first people to push her to become more outspoken with her words. While their friendship was unfortunately short lived, Moenbryda made a great impact on Gemma as a young woman. She spoke fondly of the Scion to her parents when they met in Old Sharlayan, to which they were grateful for.
Lyse, first going by Yda, was the person to initially recruit Gemma into the Scions, meeting in the Shroud alongside Papalymo. Gemma never felt she truly got to know Yda until the mask came off and then discovered the true woman beneath. Lyse's humor brought Gemma more out of her comfort zone, and the two became great friends who still talk often.

Papalymo's scholarly interests made it difficult for Gemma to truly get to know the Scion, despite him being one of the first she'd met on her journey. But she grew to respect him a lot, especially with his heroic sacrifice to save them all that fateful day on Baelsar's Wall. She greatly wishes that she got to know him more, but listens to Lyse's stories whenever she can about him.
Tataru's support through their years as Scions has been unwavering. Whenever Gemma needs assistance, Tataru is there to make sure it happens. Their relationship has gone beyond official Scion matters, with Tataru knowing how much Gemma needed respite after the Final Days. The private island in the Cieldalaes was exactly what Gemma needed with Tataru's help.

Gemma knew very little about Krile for many years, and is still learning much about her in the present day. The Baldesion woman spent much time away from the adventures Gemma went on. As the Final Days came, they got to know one another more. With the exception of their disagreements over Hydaelyn, they have a solid allyship that continued to their journey to Tural.
Gemma did not become close to G'raha as a young adventurer. But the man she met on the First as the Exarch had an entirely different vision for who she was as a person - perfect, heroic, unwavering. Gemma resisted this, and a rift formed between them due to his plans and her growing pains as the star's savior. This as well as her relationship with Hades means they struggle to be more than acquaintances.

Aymeric was Gemma's first love. They found comfort and respect for each other, leading to friendship and then romance. In the canon game timeline, she marries him after the events of Endwalker. In Gemma's new canon timeline, the two of them amicably end their engagement due to her feelings for Hades. He respects and loves her, only wishing for what's best for her in every timeline.

When Gemma was at a low point after the bloody banquet, Haurchefant was the first person to be there for her and lift her spirits. He took her and her friends into his home, treating them with grace and admiration. They became close friends with love for one another, almost like siblings. Gemma cherished this as an only child and was heartbroken with his death.

When Gemma was spending much of her time in Ishgard, she yearned to do something more to help rebuild what was destroyed due to the Dragonsong War. Francel had similar goals, and the two of them worked together to create the Firmament to help the struggling people of Ishgard. In that time building and crafting the new district for Ishgard, they became respected friends.
Gemma's mother is an intelligent and witty woman. Her strength of heart and mind is what Gemma has always looked up to, encouraging her to follow her dreams of seeing the world. Cora enjoys playfully poking fun at her daughter's shy nature, much to Gemma's chagrin. They are sometimes mistaken for siblings with a large age gap due to how close they are.

While Gemma's father appears to be an intimidating man, he is anything but. His kindness and positivity resulted in a loving relationship between himself and Gemma, and they are both friends and family. She always feels she can turn to him when in need of anything, his support for her dreams paramount and without question. His love for his family is unwavering.
Gemma and Hades's first child was born roughly a year and a half after Endwalker. He is a soul freed from Zodiark - whole and unsundered. His personality is much like Gemma's - quiet, softspoken, and introverted. He does, however, have a temper that his younger sisters take advantage of. He has a great relationship with his parents, especially his mother for how similar they are.

Gemma and Hades's first daughter, born after Zagreus in the moons following Dawntrail. She is the reborn soul of Lucius, whom she was named after in honor. Her relationship with her mother is fiery, often having an unending amount of energy and wit to test her patience. Hades was typically the one to reign her in properly when growing up, but Lucina cherishes both her parents.
Gemma and Hades's second daughter who, like Zagreus, holds a whole and unsundered soul. She is the spitting image of her mother with the exception of her hair color and lacking her mother's freckles. A clever, intelligent, and whimsical soul, she looks up to what her mother did as the Warrior of Light. They have a mutual respect for one another while also loving each other dearly.

Gemma and Hades's youngest child and third daughter. It's difficult for her to make friends with her blunt and often times harsh personality, but underneath her glib appearance is a strong soul who wishes to follow in her mother's footsteps and travel the world. She pretends to not care, but her love for her family is absolute, despite often feeling inadequate compared to her siblings.

If there was a soul more bright than Persephone, then they would be a challenge to find. Born in Amaurot, she's an odd soul that doesn't quite fit in with Amaurotine society. Full of wit, passion, fire, and whimsy, she makes her mark upon everyone she meets. Whether that impression is good or bad depends on the soul. She cannot be shackled to one place, desiring to explore every inch of Etheirys and wander aimlessly to her heart's content. That passion is conveyed in every part of her life, her stubbornness often hitting the nerves of more traditional souls. She always sticks strongly to her convictions and intensely fights for what she believes is right. Growing up, she was constantly surrounded by circles of friends as it was simply in her nature to befriend all she met. Even with a single bright "Hello!", she would enrapture the hearts of every soul. Sometimes there were concerns from Amaurotines about their children adopting some of her more unorthodox ideas or traits, but Persephone never minded the negative musings. Often times, she would even win them over with her passion and love for their star, even if it was conveyed differently than what society deemed normal.

Persephone enrolled at the Akadaemia Anyder at the insistence of her family. While sitting in a hall studying the books was far from her preferred way of learning, she would not deny that the talented scholars would open her eyes to many new ideas and concepts about their star. Particularly, she begins to work under her mentor Venat, a knowledgeable scholar she met in her travels holding the seat of Azem in the Convocation of Fourteen. She becomes quick friends with Hythlodaeus in her classes, the duo becoming tied to the hip full of unmatched energy. Persephone also has a chance encounter with the surly Hades outside the Akadaemia, and their connection is immediate, even if neither necessarily see it yet. He is also the closest friend of Hythlodaeus, who hadn't introduced the two yet. The three become best friends that spend every moment together, from then until the rest of their days. Though Hades would grumble his irritations with their antics, she knows deep down how much they mean to him. He always answers her invocation's call, after all.

There is a rare but special partnership some few privileged Ancient souls experience called soul bonding. Though the phenomenon puzzles even the most knowledgeable scholars of Etheirys, it is an undeniable bond that's born of the purest love, respect, and adoration. Their souls would reach out to one another in a warm embrace, coalescing together to share each other's emotions and experiences in the most beautiful way. It is believed that this love transcends time itself. Persephone and Hades are two such souls that finally understand this tug at their souls after Hades ascends to the seat of Emet-Selch. For many years did their love blossom, that admiration for each other's differences and strengths flourishing akin to a beautiful bloom. For Persephone, it was his compassion for their star and his sentimental heart that drew her to him. As for Hades, he fell in love with the brightness of her soul and her strong convictions. He now wears one of her signature earrings, each bearing one of the pair for their newfound partnership. To say the least, Hythlodaeus is not shocked at all by these turn of events.

With Venat choosing to step down from the seat of Azem, the Convocation of Fourteen unanimously elect Persephone to the esteemed group of leaders. The Fourteenth seat is the most unique of the Convocation - instead of remaining in Amaurot to work at the Capital, Azem would travel the star to gain intimate knowledge. The counselor to the people and the world. The Shepherd to the Stars. Persephone was a perfect fit for the role, and she accepts the seat with determination to make their star a better place. As expected, she challenges the other members over their more traditional solutions, often choosing to solve matters herself with her comrades around the star instead of involving the Convocation. She will quarrel with Lahabrea in particular, both getting on each other's nerves with their strong but differing personalities. But with others, she forms even more bonds of friendship and respect. She grows fond of Themis, the Emissary of the Convocation and holder of the seat of Elidibus, and finds someone akin to a little brother she never had in him. But in her time as Azem, she notices a subtle change within Hades as he completely devotes himself to his own Convocation duties...
A calamity that would be called the Final Days befalls their star and spreads all across the lands. The Convocation of Fourteen tries to find a solution to the catastrophe in Amaurot while Persephone travels Etheirys to gather any information she can. She fights with all her strength to protect the people, but the calamity spreads quickly through the negative emotions twisting their magicks to create beasts of nightmares. Despite all their efforts, no one can find the root of the spread. A plan is formed to summon a being of immense power to rewrite the laws of the land, and Persephone is vehemently against it when she realizes how many people would sacrifice themselves for the summoning. But the Final Days reaches Amaurot, and still she refuses to participate in the summoning. She implores Hades to reconsider, but he's made up his mind to side with the Convocation. Zodiark is born, and Persephone is wrought with grief at the loss of so many lives - including Hythlodaeus. She resigns from the seat of Azem and plans to leave Amaurot, but not before one final meeting with Hades who begs her to stay by his side. Yet their tears and pain would not sway her, and she leaves her love behind, vanishing in the night.

Persephone has wandered the star for many years after the Final Days were averted. Venat finds her one day watching the city from afar, and the two speak for the first time in so long. But before Venat leaves, she speaks cryptically, telling the young mentee: "Save Emet-Selch." Remembering how Venat's followers approached her to participate in another summoning, Persephone rushes to Amaurot when she realizes what is about to happen. She finds Hades and begs him to escape into the tear Venat spoke about. But he is at a loss and can't understand the urgency of her words - the love of his life who'd left him, harbored so much sorrow and anger over, had returned to him. A summoning begins over Amaurot, and Hydaelyn deals her devastating blow to Zodiark that would sunder the world. Persephone forces Hades into the tear with Lahabrea and Themis who are nearby, and they end up in the void. With grief, they look upon their star and people sundered into shards. But Persephone did not survive the devastation, and in her last moments held within the arms of Hades, shatters into fourteen shards after bidding him to remember her.

When Hades and Persephone met, it was love at first sight - even if neither quite realized it at the time. Their friendship as young adults blossomed into a beautiful love that people sing songs about. With their unbreakable bond, no matter what would come between them, their souls will always reach out to one another. Even if the universe does all it can to separate them.

Persephone and Hythlodaeus are best friends. When they first met at the Akadaemia Anyder, an instant connection formed. Their wit and joy together are infectious, even if Hades expresses frustrations for their antics often. In a platonic sense, Persephone loves Hythlodaeus just as much as she loves Hades, and was deeply traumatized by his sacrifice to Zodiark.

As an only child, Persephone found herself similar to an older sister towards Themis. She humored him with her stories across the star while he encouraged the Convocation to listen to her values more. As a duo, they were unmatched in many ways, complimenting one another with their differing strategies of moving through the world. His sacrifice for their people brought her great heartache.
Persephone never looked up to someone more than Venat, who at the time held the seat of Azem. When she met the woman on her travels, she knew she wanted nothing more than to learn all she could. Persephone became Venat's mentee, and in time also very close friends. She followed in Venat's footsteps as the next Azem, but took a very different path with regards to the sundering.

No one bickered more in the Chamber of the Fourteen than Persephone and Lahabrea. Many would assume they hated each other with how different their personalities were and how heated their debates got. But in truth, they highly respected each other's work, even if neither would dare to admit it. Lahabrea admired Persephone's love for the world, and she his dedication to their people.
Hermes always kept to himself, even when he took on the seat of Fandaniel. Persephone wished to learn more about the newest member of the Convocation, but events in Elpis stopped him from opening up. It saddened her, hoping to understand what the man was always thinking. Had they been given the chance to be friends, perhaps the Final Days may have been averted.

Persephone and Igeyorhm, in comparison to Lahabrea, were great friends. The Rhetorician of the Convocation was very different from her cousin, and Persephone greatly enjoyed having intriguing debates with the woman. They shared much knowledge with one another, with Persephone focusing on what she discovered on her travels and Igeyorhm on her collection of Ancient knowledge.
Gaia, also Loghrif, was perhaps Persephone's closest friend on the Convocation. They were very similar in that they both enjoyed witty conversations and topics, which Persephone could rarely share with others. They also liked to indulge in gossip on occasion. Were it not for Persephone's intervention, Gaia may never have had the courage to approach Artemis regarding her affections.

Persephone did not find herself close to Artemis, who held the seat of Mitron, until she discovered Gaia's feelings for the woman. In time, she then got to know Artemis as well. While Artemis was withdrawn at first, Persephone encouraged her to become closer friends with her fellow Convocation members. Because of this, Artemis has always been grateful to Persephone.
Demeter never thought she could love another soul more than Astrapios, but Persephone proved her wrong when she was born. While the Word of Halmarut was not as bold as her daughter, they shared many interests in botany together. Demeter's encouragement towards her daughter being her truest self is something Persephone will never forget.

Persephone's father, Astrapios, was a gentle yet powerful man. His skills in the arcane inspired Persephone to pursue the same skills, becoming perhaps the greatest sorceress in time. Were it not for his quiet but firm guidance, she may not have become as strong as she did. Underneath their training, they held much love for each other, forming a strong father and daughter bond.

Aviva Drusus was born in a small settlement in the northern reaches of Ilsabard. She has two younger brothers - twins named Cassius and Emil - and a sickly mother, Valeria. Her father was an adulterer and a soldier in the Garlean Army, and thus she remains bitter towards him. He died early on in a failed espionage mission. Faced with many struggles just like most other Garleans at this time, she took the duty of breadwinner for her family at an early age. She began work at a local business owned by a family friend named Marcus, a man she saw more as her father than the one by blood. Starting off with simple jobs at first, she did all kinds of work at The Ivory Coeurl, the local taberna at their settlement which came to be known as Praetoria. She would clean, serve, cook, and eventually sing at the establishment. From a young age, she always wished to travel the star and become a songstress, but knowing the realities of her situation, she settled upon being grateful for what she already has. Her dreams of experiencing the beauty of the world outside the barren wasteland of Ilsabard remained, but she always chose her family's wellbeing over all else.

One evening at work when she is nineteen winters old, Aviva meets a soldier named Solus Galvus, a high ranking officer in the army that has his sights set on becoming a legatus and seeking even greater heights. To her, he starts as an annoyance that refuses to stay away, but his seemingly obsessiveness with her is something she takes advantage of when he pays her well. Over time, she develops genuine feelings for him, which terrifies her. He reciprocates those feelings and she has no reason to believe him. But he continues with his advances to win her affection. She eventually gives in and decides to enjoy the flirtatious fun of their relationship and they sleep together during their celebrations of him becoming a legatus in the army. He leaves for several moons after for his new duties, but unbeknownst to him is that she became pregnant with their child. Aviva was prepared to care for the new child all on her own, not expecting Solus to stay by her side or even come back, but he does. Despite his new rank in the army keeping him busy, he does all he can to help her in preparation for their child's birth. When the time does come, they both share equal affection over their son, Lucius.
Over the following years, Aviva starts to worry about Solus's aspirations. He continues to climb the ranks in the army due to his innovative strategies and use of magitek engines powered by ceruleum, further than she thought possible. She pushes back when he is declared a dictator of the Garlean Republic, the Senate granted nearly all control to him. Despite this, she starts to look away with the continued hope that his rise in power will be for the betterment of the Garlean people, the goals she thought they were both aligned with. They move to the new capital of the Garlean Republic with young Lucius in tow so that he could better accomplish his duties while she could live in a better home. Even with all the improvements, she slowly starts to feel drained in her life. A somberness that persists nearly everyday when realizing how trapped she feels. Her fears are realized during a heated argument with Solus when he reveals his true plans - for him to declare himself the emperor of the newly formed Garlean Empire and for her to be his empress. She refuses, but he threatens Lucius's safety due to him being his firstborn son. Reluctantly, she agrees to marry him as his empress, but is exceedingly bitter about it.

Aviva is quick with learning about her role as a new empress, changing her mannerisms and routines to match what is expected of her. Within the first year of her marriage with Solus, they have another son together, Titus. However, the night of his birth was traumatic. She nearly dies from her injuries, but somehow she was saved by Solus himself. Her memories are hazy from the night, but she knows what she does remember - magick. A Garlean cannot use magick, but her husband was somehow able to do this. Instead of pressing the issue out of fears for her children, she vows to never bring it up again. She chooses ignorance. For the many years that followed, she's suspicious about who the man that calls himself her husband truly is, but wonders if she really wishes to know the truth. Amidst all this, Solus continues his harsh and bloody campaigns, despite her vehement disagreements with his decisions. The only solace she finds in her new life is the presence of her sons, still bitterly longing for a different path. In time, she finds that she enjoys pain and begins harming herself in her depression. She smokes more as time goes on, increasing more and more each year to combat the numbness inside her.
Despite Solus trying to appease Aviva, she only becomes more withdrawn over time. One of his final attempts of reaching out is when he allows her to perform anonymously at the Galvus Royal Hall. She uses this chance to punish him, her songs full of grief, sorrow, and bitterness. She realizes then that he is too late and she is too far gone in her depression to heal. The tragedies only continue with the sudden death of Lucius from an illness spreading across Ilsabard. Solus is not present when their son passes and unable to use his magicks to save him, which prolongs Aviva's grief. She is a shell of her former self, all citizens of Garlemald and the workers at the palace noticing the untold grief in their empress. About a year after Lucius's death, after Solus has used yet another opportunity to beg for her forgiveness and understanding, she stumbles upon him having a secretive meeting with a suspicious man named Elidibus. She hears the truth of his existence - that he is a sorcerer parading in the body of a Garlean, using their people as pawns is his plans. In a clash of ideals, he offers her protection by his side, but she refuses. She seeks freedom in ending her life in front of his eyes, a final act of defiance against him.

Aviva met Solus by chance one evening at The Ivory Coeurl. They had an immediate connection, despite her hesitation. She became entangled in his plans due to the soul she harbors, but she's never been able to deny the connection they share. As rocky as their relationship is, they both long for the other. Unfortunately, their relationship only leads to tragedy in the end.

Lucius is a compassionate man who was raised with pure empathy by Aviva. He is as good as souls come in the world and Aviva cherishes his kindness when she feels her heart pulling towards bitterness. They share a strong bond of love, continuing well into his adulthood. He wants nothing more than for his mother to be happy. His death was a tragedy to all - especially Aviva.

Aviva's second son, Titus, was raised purely in the Imperial Palace all his life. He is forward, clever, fiery, and a bit spoiled. Aviva noticed early on that he had a steeled heart heavily influenced by his father's actions as emperor. Despite some emotional disconnect at times, she loves him terribly, as he does her. The older he gets, the more he wishes to understand the depths of his mother's heart.
